What does any protest accomplish? So many people are listening right now. And instead of simple signs and chants, Sen. Booker is offering detailed testimony of the impact of Trump administration actions. Those letters from constituents he’s reading out loud are powerful. Will it change hearts and minds? I think so.
I should clarify my question: What effect might it be having procedurally? A filibuster kills a bill, goring the oxen of supporters. Does this speech gore any oxen? For example, preventing adjournment and thus vacation breaks?
Thanks for clarifying. I don't think it has any effect procedurally. But I could be proven wrong on this by the commentators who know something I don't know. I haven't read anything yet that says it will have any impact other than a spiritual one.
It does seem to have stopped Senate business, what there was. But it has certainly dominated the news cycle, and he was eloquent in his indictments of what's been happening. Including reading letters from people materially damaged by what's happening.
If it's not actually a filibuster what is it accomplishing?

I agree about content. Glad he's doing it.
